Craps Strategy
For new player’s & old alike, it’s important to use an effective craps strategy if you want to have the best chances to win. Looking strictly at the odds that each bet provides, it’s easy to see which bets are the outstanding winners at least in a mathematical sense.
The Don’t Pass betting strategy is really the way to go if you want to give yourself the very best of chances. Not surprisingly, this bet is not given prominence on the craps layout but it’s the best odds that the craps table gives for you to win.
Bet the Don’t Pass
A “Don’t Pass” bet is actually the opposite of a wager on the “Pass Line”. With this bet you would lose on a seven (7) or eleven (11) & you win on a two (2) or three (3). If it’s a twelve (12), it’s a push meaning no win, no lose. If the shooter manages to establish a point, a don’t pass bet wins if the shooter throws a seven (7) before managing to roll the same point number that was rolled in the come out roll. The house edge on the don’t pass bet is only 1.36%.
This is definitely the best bet to make if you want to win at craps. Unfortunately, because you are betting directly against the shooter & most of the other bettors, this is not a socially popular bet & it might make you unpopular at the craps table. If betting against the shooter bother you at all, you can still make this strategic bet when playing online without having to worry about the attitude of other players.
Laying Odds
If the player establishes a point, you can then lay odd on your don’t pass bet to further knock down the house edge. When you take double odds on a don’t pass wager brings the advantage of the house down to around 1/2%.
If you are laying odds, you need to bet more than twice your original bet to receive double odds. As an example, imagine the point number was 10 or 4, you need to lay 1-2 odds. What this means is that you risk $2 for every $1 that you would like to win, so if you wanted to win an additional $10 on your original $5 bet on don’t pass, you need to put down $20.
Don’t Come
Another good bet for odds at craps is the don’t come bet. A don’t come bet is placed after the shooter has established a point & this offers good odds.
